Data on the Northern Hemisphere radio aurora obtained on a 17 Mc/s radar located at Sheffield, England (56° geomagnetic latitude) had shown that the delay in onset of auroral echoes following a sudden commencement depended upon the local time of the occurrence of the S.C. A comparison is made between these results and the same events observed on a 55 Mc/s radar at Bluff, New Zealand (51.5°). The differences in behaviour which appear are attributed to the effects of absorption on equipments with different parameters.
