Scientific paper

In this paper we make use of the GALEX All-Sky Imaging Survey (AIS) and Medium-deep Imaging Survey (MIS). The data were taken from the first public release of GALEX data (GR1) available at the Multimission Archive at Space Telescope (MAST). Details on the GALEX mission and surveys are given in Martin et al. (2005ApJ...619L...1M). GALEX catalogs were then matched to the SDSS third data release (DR3; Abazajian et al. (2005, Cat. II/259) spectroscopic sample.
