The ion-acoustic instability caused by large-scale electric fields is considered for plasmas of solar active regions. The dispersion relation has been obtained for ion-acoustic waves, where not only the external electric field, E 0, influence, but also Landau damping and pair Coulomb collisions were taken into account. For the description of collisions, the model integral of Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook was used. In the framework of linear theory, the expression for growth rate has been obtained. Numerical analysis of the behaviour of the growth rate has been carried out for plasma with characteristics which are typical for post-flare loops and prominences.
