For studies of nearby galaxies, near-infrared Laser Guide Star Adaptive Optics observations with the Keck telescope are a powerful complement to high spatial resolution optical observations made with HST/ACS. I will present the results of recent work combining images (and resulting photometry) obtained with these two facilities to characterize the stellar populations and deduce the star formation histories of two nearby galaxies, IC 10 and NGC 1569. These objects are close enough that they can be resolved into their individual stellar and stellar cluster components. By comparing the color-magnitude diagrams generated from the observations with theoretical isochrones, we are able to estimate reddenings, burst ages, and distances (from the Tip of the Red Giant Branch method) for the starburst regions in these galaxies.
