Binary stars provide a unique laboratory to sequence the dissipation of planet forming disks. However, binaries are difficult to spatially resolve at the (mid-infrared) wavelengths necessary to monitor this evolution.
We describe our ongoing survey to resolve the silicate features of Taurus-Auriga binaries (T Tau, XZ Tau, UY Aur, etc.) down to separations of 0.1", using the 6.5 meter MMT and its unique mid-IR adaptive optics system. Our survey will allow us to determine how the silicate feature varies between binary components, which will be an important clue for determining the initial steps of grain-growth and planet formation.
