Scientific paper

This paper considers nonlinear decay of a beam-driven plasma mode into
an Alfven wave plus a circularly polarized electromagnetic wave near the
electron-plasma frequency. Explicit expressions for the growth rate and
threshold are obtained analytically. Relevance of our work to space as
well as laboratory plasmas is discussed.
