The IAU Colloquium 167: New Perspectives on Solar Prominences was held
in Aussois, France from April 28 to May 3, 1997. The purpose of the
meeting was to review, discuss and try to understand the new
observations of prominences and their environment. One hundred and seven
scientists from twenty-one countries participated.
