In the Landau-Zener approximation, the rate constant ratios k(v)/k(v = 0) of collisional deactivation of the N2(A3Σu+, v) metastable nitrogen at an oxygen atom are calculated. The influence on the vibrational kinetics of molecular nitrogen in the auroral atmosphere is studied. It is shown that N2 vibrational excitation is invariant in the case of the formation of oxygen atoms in the 3P or 1D states and differs significantly in the case of 1S state formation.
