The advisability of supplying a store of helpful data to primitive people, in case of the discovery of such people on a remote planet at some future time, is considered. Attention is given to the form of civilization and the intelligence level of people which should be given assistance, dangers related to the provision of assistance, the conditions for assistance, details concerning the form of supplying the data bank, the consideration of possible differences between human and alien values, the limitations of a monitor system, and problems regarding the selection of a suitable location for the installation of the data bank.
