We present the current status of hard X-ray telescope developments of ASTRO-H. ASTRO-H is Japan's 6th X-ray satellite mission following to Suzaku. It will be launched in fiscal year 2013 and dedicated to the exploration of non-thermal phenomena in the Universe by the hard X-ray imaging, high resolution spectroscopy and broad band coverage. The objectives are the non-thermal X-ray components in cluster of galaxies and SNRs, hidden AGNs and their contribution to the cosmic X-ray background.
ASTRO-H is designed to carry a pair of hard X-ray imaging system, another pair of soft X-ray imaging system, and Soft gammma-ray Detector (SGD) to cover the wide energy range between 0.5 keV to 300 keV. The hard X-ray imaging system consists of two Hard X-ray Telescopes (HXTs) for the Hard X-ray Imagers (HXIs). One of the key instruments of ASTRO-H is HXT to cover hard X-rays up to 80 keV. HXT is thin-foil, multi-nested conical optics as well as Suzaku XRT. To reflect hard X-rays efficiently, reflector surfaces are coated with depth-graded Pt/C multilayer (supermirror). Reflectors are fabricated by the epoxy-replication method.
Major changes from XRT of Suzaku are large aperture size of 45 cm in diameter, the length of reflectors of 20 cm and the focal length of 12 m. A pre-collimator is mounted on top of HXT for stray light elimination. Currently, we have finished the preparation of mirror production facility at Nagoya University, and started test production of reflectors for HXT. The design of pre-collimator for HXT has been finished. We plan to measure the characteristics of test production mirror for HXT in hard X-ray region at the synchrotron radiation facility, SPring-8.
