This test is a combination coarse and fine alignment activity. It will pin down the aperture locations and aperture plate rotations even in the presence of a fairly large uncertainty in the initial knowledge of the these variables. It uses spacecraft motions to absorb the coarse uncertainty in aperture positions, and uses a low scan rate and high speed photometry to extract fine alignment information. Small science apertures (as opposed to the finding aperture) are used to nail down plate offsets and rotations.
