We have investigated the long-time and short-time variations in the UV spectrum of the ex-nova HR Del through a re-analysis of its whole set of IUE-INES data. A notable result of this study is the finding that for many years after the return to its pre-outburst optical magnitude the nova has been displaying a considerable UV luminosity and wind activity. This raises several questions on the general assumption that associates the return to the pre-outburst magnitude with the return to a quiescent stage. It is possible that the pre-outburst magnitude at mv ~12 did not correspond with a real "quiescent" state.
