Our photometric monitoring during the outburst of XTE J1118+480 (= KV UMa) in 2000 has revealed that both the optical maximum and the onset of the outburst precede those in X-ray. This indicates that the event is an ``outside-in'' type outburst and its optical flux is dominated by the viscous heating itself, not the effect of the X-ray irradiation. Our findings support an outburst scenario of XTE J1118+480 analogous to superoutbursts in SU UMa-type dwarf novae. This scenario predicts the superhump phenomenon, which we indeed detected throughout the outburst. Substituting the observed superhump excess for a theoretically expected relation, we estimated the black hole mass of >~9.5Modot.
