Using high-cadence magnetograms from the SOHO/MDI we have investigated variations of the photospheric magnetic field during solar flares and CME. For most investigated events there was no significant change in the magnetic fields. However, in the case of a strong X-class flare we have detected a rapidly propagating magnetic wave. We discuss the physics of this new phenomenon, and its relation to the Moreton H-alpha waves and the coronal waves observed by the EIT.
