Some results of investigations of the larger regolith particles obtained from the lunar surface are discussed. The quantity of metallic particles in each sample is different, but on the average is 0.1 to 0.5%. The form and nature of the surface of lunar metallic particles vary: there are circular particles similar to frozen droplets; there are particles of complex irregular configuration resembling treelike branches and native beads of iron. An interpretation of structures on the basis of a metallographic analysis makes it possible to determine the thermal, mechanical and radiation prehistory of lunar and meteoritic iron. A hypothesis has been proposed which suggests that the lunar continents consist of primary matter. Available experimental data gives basis for assuming that ferronickel fragments of cosmic matter are primary structural elements of the galaxy.
