The Milne problem involves the determination of diffuse-radiation fields in semiinfinite planetary or stellar atmospheres in the case of radiation sources at infinitely great optical thicknesses. In the present paper the Milne problem is solved for an inhomogeneous atmosphere on the basis of a model that considers the probability of single scattering to be dependent on optical thickness.
