The interaction between supernova remnants and molecular clouds is crucial to understanding the structure and physics of the ISM. OH(1720 MHz) masers are among the few clearcut signposts of such interactions. Certain methanol masers trace shocked outflows from young protostars under conditions similar to those of shocks that produce OH(1720 MHz) masers. This suggests collisionally pumped methanol masers could be an important diagnostic of shock physics and grain chemistry for interacting supernova remnants. We propose to search 7 maser-emitting remnants for 95.1 GHz methanol masers which have excitation conditions similar to OH(1720 MHz) masers. The recognition of methanol masers as tracers of the earliest stages of star formation may also present a new tool to identify star formation triggered by an expanding supernova remnant into a molecular cloud.
