Efficient detection of energetic muons originated in proton-proton collisions at 14 TeV is crucial for the experiments at the future Large Hadron Collider at CERN. To this purpose, the Compact Muon Solenoid detector (CMS) is equipped with three independent muon detector systems, based on Resistive Plate Chambers, Cathode Strip Chambers and Drift Tube Chambers. These are also used for triggering the CMS readout at the passage of muons. In particular, the Drift Tubes Muon Trigger system is reviewed: the trigger electronics includes thousands of ASICs, located on the chambers, that act as a single synchronous system for finding muon tracks, for measuring their parameters and for selecting the interesting ones; its performance has been evaluated in a test beam in May 2003.
