The possible density inversion throughout seismic wave-guides beneath ocean basins and continental structures (without shields) is discussed in accordance with upper-mantle velocity models, thermodynamic properties of deep matter and temperature profiles. The problem is numerically solved. No density inversion in the upper mantle beneath ancient shields is indicated.
