A fine spectral structure in the electromagnetic background noise at 0.1 to 6 Hz is observed at a low latitude station. Its frequency scale falls roughly within the range of low-latitude field-line resonances (FLR), but the reported structure reveals a much higher quality factor than is usually found in FLR observations. It is interpreted here in terms of coupling between the ionospheric Alfvén resonator (IAR) and conventional field line resonances.
