We present the star formation history of the Puppis-Vela region, based on the OB associations and star clusters which are kinematically identified using the HIPPARCOS data. We estimate their age, mean location, distance, transverse and space velocities. From the above estimated parameters, we find that some clusters may be born together. Analysis of the colour-magnitude diagram of the field star population shows that the age of the younger population is similar to those of the clusters, whereas the old stars belong to the old disk population. Thus the region has undergone a star formation event around 50-100Myr, resulting in the formation of some clusters and majority of the field stars.
