It is shown that the Hubble law of the expansion of the universe implies not only the law of universal gravitation in the Newtonian framework, but also the time-independence of the gravitational constant. The equivalence between the Hubble law and the law of universal gravitation can be proven without introducing the assumption of the sphericity of the universe but with recourse to a reference system whose origin is at the center of gravity of some galaxy and moves translationally with respect to the inertial reference.
