The Hawking effect for a quantized massless conformal scalar field in two- and four-dimensional de Sitter space is studied. Two different charts, on which the mode functions are defined, are the spatially flat chart and the static one. The Bogoliubov coefficients are evaluated without any approximation. In both two and four dimensions, the particle number distributions reveal the exact thermal spectrum.
