Photometric and kinematical observations of NGC 1947, a minor- axis dust-lane elliptical, are presented. The stellar component of this galaxy is rotating around the galaxy minor axis, perpendicularly to the gas rotation axis. This kinematical property appears to be present in every elliptical galaxy with the same morphology. The possible external origin of the warped gas disc is discussed.
