We have discovered X-ray emission from the superluminal jet of the Galactic black hole XTE J1550-564. The emission is due to either internal shocks in the relativistic plasmons or interaction of the jet with the interstellar medium. We propose to use Chandra to study in detail the dynamical evolution of the jet, something impractical for AGN jets due to the time scales involved. These observations, together with contemporaneously radio and optical observations, may help us understand the physics of jet/ISM interactions, the total power of relativistic jets, and the broadband emission mechanisms of superluminal jets. This will have implications not only for the study of jets from galactic X-ray binaries, but also for our understanding of relativistic jets from AGN and gamma ray bursts.
