A model representing the chromosphere above part of the observed umbra, presented in this study in tabular form, is able to accurately predict the intensity profiles of the cores of selected strong spectral lines. The model is also consistent with studies of the transmission region above spots. The present selection of a local minimum in brightness is not only found to assist in the spatial registration of the reduced data, but to provide a model of what may be a low temperature extremum.
