Cosmic-Ray Interactions, Inelastic Scattering: Many-Particle Final States
Scientific paper
The development of ideas about some of the more important characteristics of high energy interactions from cosmic ray studies are considered. Cosmic ray data had suggested that simple Feynman scaling breaks down for energetic secondaries and the authors had previously claimed that accelerator data, up to ISR enegies, also show this feature. The latest pp results seem to confirm this contention, at least insofar as the mean number of secondaries and their mean transverse momentum are still rising.
