We review recent ISO and millimeter line observations of the Helix, the
nearest fully developed planetary nebula. The observations provide a
global view of the structure, kinematics and physical conditions of the
massive neutral remnant of the circumstellar envelope ejected on the
Asymptotic Giant Branch (AGB).
