An improved geometry for the September 12, 1983 occultation of MKE 31 by Neptune, based on a determination of the scale height of 50 km (Elliot, 1979) and the prediction that Neptune's center passed north of the star, is used to reevaluate the results of Pandy et al. (1984). The data show that the possible ring system of Neptune extends from 64,440 to 64,190 km in Neptune's equatorial plane. The error in the present distance determinations is estimated to be about + or - 0.05 Neptune radii.
