Results are presented for white-light photometric analysis of a coronal hole appearing in the SW quadrant of the sun during the total eclipse of March 7, 1970. The parameters of the corona and the hole are described, and the intensity of the K-component is used in the analysis. It is found that the hole extended into the polar zone and that the density distribution in the central part of the hole was less than 10% of that in the undisturbed corona outside the hole and increased sharply in the outer part. The appearance of a coronal hole over the polar cups before and after a sunspot minimum is described, and the necessity of distinguishing between long-term polar holes and short-term holes at lower latitudes is stressed.
