Anomalous characteristics of certain stars are related to deviations in the stellar composition or to different physical characteristics, taking as basis of comparison conditions found in the great majority of stars. The most important types of anomalous stellar spectra are considered, giving attention to Wolf-Rayet stars, stars with extended envelopes, helium stars, helium-deficient stars, early types with nitrogen anomalies, Ap stars, and Am stars. Questions of branching in the case of late types are also discussed. Conditions in the case of M, C, and S stars are explored and aspects of anomaly in the hydrogen content of the stars are investigated.
