The model of Fernandez-Castro et al. (1988) for Z Andromedae has been extended in order to resolve discrepancies noted between observed line and continuum fluxes and model calculations. It is shown that the coexistance of two stellar winds can significantly modify the ionization structure and can alter the eclipse effects on spectral lines from different ionization stages. Observed P-Cygni profiles indicate that radiative transfer should be taken into account for some of the strong spectral lines.
