A discussion is presented on the currently unappreciated possible consequences of the Yarkovsky effect, which affects the orbits of rotating asteroid fragments due to the asymmetry between the direction of sunlight absorption and that of reradiated thermal IR light. The Yarkovsky effect might explain the relative cosmic ray exposure ages of stones and irons.
