Our XMM-Subaru study of 12 clusters confirms that Mgas is a low scatter mass proxy, but the slopes of the mass-observable relations deviate from self-similar predictions, dependent on cluster dynamics. We propose to calibrate biases in the mass proxies based on 3 independent probes (Xray/lensing/velocity dispersion) for a volume-limited sample of 52 luminous clusters, and to investigate the origin of the biases by adding a sample of 15 lower-Lx clusters. We will deliver definitive constraints on systematics for upcoming cluster cosmology surveys. The dataset will be a major asset for programs aiming to measure dark energy as well as programs adding a multi-wavelength focus to studies of cluster physics. High-quality X-ray data exist for 47 clusters, we request 650ks for the remaining 20.
