Early-Type Galaxies: X Rays, Early-Type Galaxies: Interstellar Matter, X Rays: Interstellar Matter

Scientific paper

Early-type galaxies are luminous X-ray sources. The X-rays are mainly coming from hot interstellar medium in these galaxies. The author has discovered that the X-ray luminous ellipticals are central galaxies of some larger-scale potential structures. He shows that presence/absence of such a larger-scale potential can consistently account for several unsolved problems with the ISM.
