Scientific paper

The author visited Hanle, where Indian Institute of Astrophysics is going to build a new observatory, to measure atmospheric opacity using a 230 GHz radio receiver. The opacity shows that the site must be one of the best places for observations in the sub-millimeter wavelengths in the world. The meteorological data and advanced studies in the visible wavelength also show the potential for the best-quality infrared observations.
