It is commonly believed that white dwarfs (WDs) with a carbon-oxygen
core must have mass larger than about 0.5Msolar. We will
discuss a possible scenario for the formation of C/O WDs with mass as
low as 0.33Msolar. A description of both the pre-WD and the
cooling evolution of such models of very low mass will be presented.
