Using USA observations, we attempt to shed some light on the nature of the strange binary source Circinus X-1 by comparing its timing and spectral properties to those of other better known objects such as Cygnus X-1, GX 349+2, and GX 340+0. We use observations which span the whole 16.6 day orbit of Circinus X-1 and track the evolution of low to medium frequency QPO as well as the spectral variation of the source along its path on a color-color diagram. Basic research in Astronomy at the Naval Research Laboratory is supported by the Office of Naval Research. Work at SLAC was supported by the Department of Energy contract DE-AC03-76SF00515.
