A qualitative result from the transverse momentum differential equation is presented and some general properties of coronal loops are obtained from an integral related to the loop shade. Assuming that flows inside coronal loops are stationary and that the external atmosphere is plane-stratified in hydrostatic equilibrium, then the shape of loops is determined by the physical parameters of the fluids inside and outside the loops. As an inverse problem, some information about physical conditions in loops and the external atmosphere can be derived from the loop shapes.
