Related to the problem of the diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) is the unknown identity of the carriers of emission lines in the Red Rectangle, a nearby proto-planetary nebula, known as the Red Rectangle Bands (RRBs). We have used integral field spectroscopy with the 8m VLT (and 4m AAT) to spatially map the spectra of the RRBs and C2 Swan Bands in the Red Rectangle. We find that the strength of the 5800A RRB is consistently 120 times stronger than the (0,1) Swan emission. Through an understanding of the photophysics of C2, we can place constraints on the properties of the carrier of the 5800A RRB.
