A suggested application of the theory of wave localization to type III solar radio events in the solar wind is critically discussed. The theory has favorable features for application to space plasmas, and leads to a simple relation between localization length and the spectrum of density fluctuations. The theory is applied to Langmuir waves and to transverse waves in type III events in the interplanetary plasma. The measured spectrum of density fluctuations in the solar wind is used to estimate the possible importance of wave localization.
