We discuss the time independent interactions of gauged U(1) cosmic strings. We show that at low energies this is governed by a geodesic motion on a 2n-dimensional moduli space. Although its metric is not known, we can deduce the existence of a distinguished geodesic which represents the head-on collision of parallel strings. These scatter at right angles to their original plane. We comment on the accuracy of this result and its relation to recent numerical work.
