The equatorial boundary of the auroral oval is considered as a function of the type and parameters of solar sources such as flares, coronal holes and winking filaments. It is established that the increase in intensity and the position of a solar source relative to the central meridian leads to an increase in auroral activity, expansion of the auroral oval and a decrease in the geomagnetic latitude of the equatorial boundary of polar aurorae.
