Results are presented of a multiwavelength monitoring, from August 1984 to January 1986, of the active galactic nucleus in NGC 1566, for which data were collected in the X-rays, ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared domains. Results disclosed significant variability with time of continuous emission from NGC 1566 at all wavelengths. In particular, the soft X-rays varied by about 40 percent on a time scale shorter than a month. The spectrum of the variable component, as it appears along an outburst which developed over six months can be represented by a power law with index beta = 1.5 from the NIR to the UV and beta less than 1 at higher frequencies.
