Scientific paper

South American and Indian data on the variability (large and small) of the geomagnetic field are examined. It is shown that variations of Z increase simultaneously on both sides of the magnetic equator. It is concluded that the character of variations on individual days is determined by an increase in the intensity of the equatorial electrojet. Displacements of the current zone are not observed.
