We examine the profile of methane in Titan's atmosphere at altitudes above 900 km, using FUV stellar occultation data from the Ultraviolet Imaging Spectrograph (UVIS) onboard Cassini. Possible deviation from a hydrostatic model for methane at these altitudes and its implications for escape or loss rates at the top of the atmosphere are explored based on these spectral analyses. The latitudinal and dayside/nightside variability of the methane profile is also studied using measurements from a range of Titan flybys and stellar occultations. These observations will help constrain the behavior of methane at or near the exobase of Titan, and could be of use for models that account for methane transfer within and out from the thermosphere.
