We discovered hard X-ray emission from Seyfert 2 galaxy VV 780 with INTEGRAL. VV 780 is an interacting galaxy pair at an early stage of merger. Its soft X-ray properties point to an highly obscured AGN. The sample of early merger Sy2s that are observed in X-rays is limited and they may hold important clues to understand the onset of starburst and AGN activity. We request one XMM-Newton observation of this source, first to verify that the X-ray emitting object in the ISGRI error circle is VV 780. We will also obtain the spectral parameters of the source in soft X-rays with XMM-Newton. Along with the simultaneous RXTE observation (submitted AO-11), the overall spectrum will enable us to classify this object, and provide information about the nature of hard and soft X-ray emission.
