We present ultraviolet photometry for a sample of morphologically early-type galaxies selected by matching the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 1 with the GALEX Medium and All-Sky Imaging Surveys. We obtain a working sample of red sequence galaxies with GALEX detections, SDSS spectroscopy, and z<0.2. The SDSS spectra are used to identify galaxies with even weak star formation or evidence of AGN activity. A further selection gives us a sample of ``old, red, and dead'' galaxies which we use to search for correlations between UV flux and line strength indices such as Lick Mg2 and D4000, as well as stellar velocity dispersion. We find no correlation between these properties and far UV flux. We consider additionally how the red sequence is characterized by the GALEX surveys.
