We propose to measure the short-wavelength ultraviolet energy distributions of a sample of pulsating DA white dwarfs. These data will be analyzed with the help of model atmosphere techniques in order to derive accurate, timeaveraged effective temperatures for these stars. The primary scientific objectives are to better define the exact location and width of the ZZ Ceti instability strip and, in particular, to verify the expected existence of a period-color correlation among the ZZ Ceti variables. This will provide a very important test of the linear, nonadiabatic theory of nonradial stellar pulsations.
