Consideration is given to high-resolution polarization measurements of the fine structure of the temporal profile of flare-associated type III bursts. A description is given of an automated system for the acquisition and reduction of type-III-event data at Osservatorio Astronomico di Trieste; the new system is designed to be interfaced with the solar radio telescope of the Observatory. A block diagram of the data reduction system is presented along with a complete flow chart of the standard software for the management of the system.
